Hackathon Rules & Code of Conduct

 Eligibility

  • Open to university students aged 18–35, currently enrolled or graduated within the past two years.

  • Participants must reside in Kenya.

  • Teams must consist of 2 to 5 members.

  • All work must be original and developed during the hackathon period.

Submission Guidelines

All teams must submit their final project via Devpost by the stated deadline.

Each submission must include:

  • ✅ A working prototype (hosted app and GitHub repo)

  • ✅ A 2–5 minute demo video

  • ✅ A 5–10 slide pitch deck

  • ✅ A brief description of your solution and technology stack

⚠️ Only one submission per team is allowed.

Judging & Awards

Projects will be evaluated based on:

  • Relevance to theme

  • Innovation & originality

  • Technical execution

  • User experience

  • Feasibility & scalability

  • Potential business impact

Top 3 teams will receive cash prizes:
🥇 KES 300,000
🥈 KES 100,000
🥉 KES 50,000

Additional rewards may include:

  • Internship opportunities

  • Mentorship from industry experts

  • Public exposure through Green Wells platforms

Intellectual Property

  • All participants retain ownership of their work.

  • By submitting, teams grant Green Wells Energies Ltd a non-exclusive license to explore, pilot, or further develop the idea with proper attribution.

  • For any implementation opportunities, IP agreements will be discussed directly with winning teams.

Event Rules

  • All project development must occur within the official hackathon timeframe.

  • Use of open-source tools/libraries is allowed, but must be properly credited.

  • Participants must treat the venue, teammates, and organizers with respect at all times.

Code of Conduct

This event is a harassment-free, inclusive environment for all participants.

By joining, you agree to:

  • Treat all individuals with respect, integrity, and professionalism

  • Avoid any behavior that is discriminatory, harassing, or disruptive

  • Comply with all venue rules, safety protocols, and organizer guidelines
